Real Estate Deed basic definitions

Grantor is the person that is selling, giving, releasing or otherwise transferring their interest in the real property. Everyone on title that is selling, giving, releasing or otherwise transferring their interest in the real property to another must be listed as a grantor.

Grantee is the person or entity that is buying or receiving real property from another. The Grantee is to be the new owner. Everyone that is to be the new owner of the property should be listed as a Grantee.

Tax Parcel Number is the identification number on your tax bill that you receive from the County for the property.

There are three different types of deeds:

  • Warranty Deed
  • Limited Warranty Deed
  • Quitclaim Deed
